Lesson Plan in English 5 (2c2IA)


        I. OBJECTIVES:

            A.  1. Show enjoyment in listening to a conversation.
                  2. Give the meaning of new words through context clues.
                   3. Answer questions about the conversation listened to.
                   4. Classify nouns as to common and proper.
                   5. Follow printed directions in filling up information sheet.
                   6.Respond to a story through:
                        Group I - Dramatize the scene on putting up an exhibit.
                        Group II - Act out a scene on how you will tell a story to the children.
                        Group III - Make a detailed announcement of the Library club activities.
                        Group IV - Write a short letter convincing the companies of putting their new books in the                                             
                                              exhibit.

    B.  Comprehension Skills Strategies:       Noting important details about the conversation, Answering wh-                                                                                                                             questions, emoting feelings.
   C.  Language Structure:   Classifying, Distinguishing between common and proper nouns.Using common                            and proper nouns in sentences.
     D.  Deciphering and Decoding: Filling up information sheets by following information.
     E.  Writing:  List down common and proper nouns from newspaper clippings.
     F. References:

      G. Materials: Blank information sheet or bio-data form, charts, activity cards, strips of cartolina
III. LEARNING ACTIVITIES:
     A. Discovering the Magic of REading (DMR)
          1. Prereading
              1.1 MOtivation and Building Background
                      a.   Ask: Have you been a member of a club? What club did you join?
                      b.   Lead the class to predict what the dialogue is all about.
              1.2. Unlocking of New/Difficult Words
                      *
                            a.  exhibit    - Show a picture. Say: The Nature Lover's Club had put up an exhibit. They
                                                  displayed variety of trees.
                            b.  inquired - The children inquired about the plan.
                                                 They asked the teacher about the project.
                            c.  fixed    -    The officers fixed the venue of the exhibit.
                                                   They arranged it in a way that children will like it.
                        *Fill the boxes with the correct letters. Fill the configuration clues to form the words defined
                                  on the right side.

                        Ask questions after a few paragraphs. Do the same until all paragraphs were read.

     3.2  Divide the class intor 4 groups. Give out activity sheets. Have each group work on each assigned sheet. As group activities are presented, discussion follows.

     1. Preparatory Activities

    1.2 Presentation.
                          Ask: Do you still recall our selection?
           a. Whos is the adviser?

     2. Analysis/Discussion
            Say:  Let us read the names in column A. What have you noticed with these words?
                        How are the first letters of the names written?
                         In column B? How are the first letter of each word written?
                        
     3. Generalization.
                          HOw do we classify nouns? What are proper nouns? Common nouns?
   3.1 Practice Exercises
      a. Guided Practice
           Pass the magic box around. When the music stops, the person holding the box will get 1 strip of colored paper and read the word written on it. Then, tell the class if it's a common or a proper noun. Then, pass the magic box again and again.
       b. Independent Practice.
            Classify the underlined nouns in each sentence into proper and common noun.
                         1.  Mrs. Maria Nympha B. Santonil  is the adviser of the Grade V-Garnet.
                          2.  A new president will bring our country a new hope.
                          3.  Who treats the doctor when it's his turn to get sick?
                           4.  Rice is a prime commodity  in the Philippines.
                           5.  The Manila Ocean Park is a great place to be.
D.  DECIPHERING AND DECODING: STRATEGIES AND SKILLS (DDSS)
      1. Presentation
          What should good listeners do when someone is talking or telling  a story?
       2.  Analysis/Discussion
                     Present an accomplished Information Data Sheet.

        Group the class into two. Give them activity sheets. Ask pupils to fill up the needed information based on the given data in the activity sheets.

  4. My dear readers and co-workers at DepEd, The one thing that inspires me in blogging is to share my LPs and have an outlet for my bottled up feelings. But yes...I also need people to subscribe to me and leave your e-mails so i can answer your queries and better yet send you the things you are asking me for. by staying anonymous...i don't think i can share to you my labor of love.
    I do have lessons for grade 5 but not for the entire year...but i'm trying to make them as much as i can squeeze on to my sched. One thing, i don't know how to upload them properly...they get tangled up when they are already uploaded in my blog especially when there are grids, figures and stuff...i need to read more on blogging and practice...

    I am more delighted to serve all of you who appreciate my work. Indeed I do have LPs for gr 5 that I wish to share with you. I will try to encode them as soon as i'm free from the Phil-IRI.
